I’m back. In a new and improved form. For one thing, most of the posts will be in english from here on. There will be posting in danish as well, so don’t adjust your screen if things begin to look garbled.

It’s been a long while, since I was here. About four months to be exact. Pokers been so-so, but I’ve found a new love: PokerStars. Damn, if only i’d known a long while ago, how soft the games are, I’d probably gone there a lot more often.

I’ve first and foremost been a Full Tilt Player. Over 90 percent of all the hands I’ve played were on FT tables. But not anymore. I decided to take a break from FT after experincing several traumatic disconnects in key hands or key positions of a tourney. Finally, I just couldn’t deal with it anymore.

I think the straw that broke the camels back was one night, when I was shut out for some 45 minutes of a MTT (which I was leading or near leading), I mailed FT support in desperation asking them to do something. They came back to me three days later and wanted to know all kinds of irrelevant things, such as wether I liked my eggs easy or done. Whatever.

I’m still a Full Tilt player in my heart I guess, but I can’t live with the current situation.

So I began looking for other company, which happened to be PokerStars. Read somewhere that they were better and bigger in every which way, had weekly software updates and stuff, so I thought okay, I’ll give them a chance. Loaded up some $ and got playing. Can’t say I was disappointed in any way.

Taking the challenge
At the same time I decided that in order to improve my game, I should set a goal for myself. So I immediately thought of Chris Fergusons challenge, turning nothing into a lot more than I’ve ever hand on any poker-related bankroll. I decided to take up the challenge.

I’m about three weeks into the challenge now. I didn’t start at zero dollar, not even at one dollar, like Ferguson did, turning it into 20 grand. My buy-in is a little higher. I’m going for the money AND for the lesson I’m going to learn. The latter is valid no matter which level I play.

Anyway. The exact amount isn’t that interesting for other than myself. So instead of posting a dollar amount, I’ll post an index value.

That index was set at 100 on Sept. 21/2007. Todays index is 189. The goal is set at 10.000.

I will get there, but probably not in 16 months like Ferguson. Probably not in 24 months either, but I’m in no hurry, although getting rich quick would be nice, since my firstborn son is about to rear his head any day now.

I’m still playing at the micro and low levels, but I’m pretty happy so far. It seems to be profitable games, so I’m confident that I’ll be moving up to medium level before new year.

Let’s just review the rules for the challenge (quoting from Fergusons post):

  • I’ll never buy into a cash game or a Sit & Go with more than 5 percent of my total bankroll (there is an exception for the lowest limits: I’m allowed to buy into any game with a buy-in of $2.50 or less).
  • I won’t buy into a multi-table tournament for more than 2 percent of my total bankroll and I’m allowed to buy into any multi-table tournament that costs $1.
  • If at any time during a No-Limit or Pot-Limit cash-game session the money on the table represents more than 10 percent of my total bankroll, I must leave the game when the blinds reach me.

So there you have it. I hope that this time around my blog will be a little more read than last time.
