Hot or not?

Ssssh! I’m supposed to be working, so don’t tell anyone…

I was wasting time researching on the net, when I came across Sharkscope. They’ve been fairly unreliable when it comes to accurately reporting my game – which I don’t mind at all, since I generally don’t like these types of sites that collect your stats without asking you first.

Well, I’m still not convinced, but it seems they have tidied up and are now somewhat closer to the truth.

And Sharkscope thinks I’m hot, so who am I to complaint?

Do any of you readers out there research opponents using sites like Sharkscope? And does it help your game or is it mostly just for boosting your own morale?

I don’t use Sharkscope because I play my sit n goes on UB and they don’t cover that site. I’ve heard comments from friends who do use it and they like it. I believe you can use 5 free look-ups each day or something like that, so use the freebies and see if you like it, no?

There is also a data base at (online) Bluff Magazine. I believe you have to do a free signup (give them one of your e-mail addresses). Here is the link:

When I look you up, I see this:

If you look me up on UB (I’m Memphis-Mojo there with a hyphen), you’ll see this:

I forgot the say that the Bluff data base (mentioned above) is for MTTs (not sit ‘n gos). I use it when it’s late in a big tournament. There is a wide variance in the skill of the players left, and you can find that out at Bluff db.

Don’t pay anything. They have a subscription for detailed information, but the basic stuff that I use if free. If one plays in a lot of MTTs, it may be free, but it’s still quite valuable.

I don’t look at just total winnings as that’s a function of how many and what price tournaments a player has entered.

I look at percent of cashes. Also I look at how they do if they make the final table. Notice on mine (ahem) that I’ve made 49 final tables. That should translate to 5 first places, 5 second places, etc. down to 5 10th places. Noicte I’ve been first or second 25 times!!! Those are stats from a player you should be afraid of (if I do say so myself).
