A blog about poker. And stuff...

"He will win who knows when to fight and when not to fight. He will win who knows how to handle both superior and inferior forces. He will win, who prepared himself, waits to take the enemy unprepared." - Sun Tzu, The Art of Poker

The Junkie and the Monk

Comedian Mike Destefano tells a very touching story about how he almost killed himself. It’s 18 minutes plus, but you will hear it to the end, I guarantee.

Vicky Coren says

There was a line in a news report from the Phuket Gazette that made me cry. It said:

“Asked if he were the same Ronald Fanelli who was a former professional poker player who gambled in tournaments under the name ‘Mad Yank’, he laughed briefly with a tone of bitter irony before replying, ‘Yes, but that was a long time ago.’”

Victoria Coren, british poker pro, tells a story of a friend who recently confessed to killing a prostitute and dumping her body from a motorbike.

A different view of the WSOP

The WSOP Main Event like you’ve never seen it on the intertubes. Via the danish poker news site Pokernyhederne.com

In the clip you’ll see one of Denmarks finest, Theo Jorgensen, bust his AK against AQ. And you get to chose which angle to watch it in. Or sort of.

Does this 360 degree thing bring anything extra to the game? Not at all – in fact, all you really get to see are a number of caps and a dealer. There’s more ceiling than poker. Is it worthwhile? Not really, but check it out for yourself.

Word of warning: Remove your headphones before you start the clip! The sound slider is almost impossible to control.
